About the FREEDOM Program

The FREEDOM Program consists of several clinical research studies evaluating an innovative investigational product for people who have type 2 diabetes.

The investigational product slowly releases a drug called exenatide. Exenatide, given in the form of regular injections, has already been approved in many countries throughout the world for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The investigational product is placed just under the skin of the abdomen (belly), and once in place, will continue to release exenatide for several months until it is removed by the study doctor. Therefore, the need for regular injections is avoided.

What will happen in the FREEDOM Program?

Your participation in the FREEDOM Program could last from approximately 1 year up to 5 and a half years, depending on which study you join. Throughout this time you will receive care from a dedicated team of medical staff, and will make regular visits to the study center where the study doctor will check your diabetes and overall health.

The investigational product, examinations, and medical care relating to the study will be provided at no cost to you.

By joining one of the FREEDOM studies, you could help us gather valuable information that may help to improve the treatment of people with type 2 diabetes in the future.
